Produced as part of the Statewide \u201cCleaner Green Communities\u201d initiative
\ncreated by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the North Country\u2019s plan, titled
\n\u201cOur Economy,\u201d features the combined efforts of leadership from a
\nseven-county consortium, that was assisted by the Adirondack North Country
\nAssociation (ANCA) and Ecology and Environment (E&E), and hundreds of
\nparticipants across the region. The plan outlines the region\u2019s vision,
\ngoals and objectives for a sustainable future, identifies a number of
\nregional assets and makes recommendations for building on those assets to
\nenhance the quality of rural communities, and promote sustainable
\nmanagement of its natural resources.<\/p>\n

“Our Economy” recently was recognized by the Upstate New York Chapter of
\nthe American Planning Association (APA), a professional institute for
\ncertified planners, as winner of the Planning Excellence Award for
\nInnovation in Sustaining Places. Read more about the award.<\/a><\/p>\n

The plan was divided into sections that addressed areas such as energy,
\nwater and transportation (see sections below for each of the focus areas)<\/p>\n
