Over the past few years we have been listening to the needs and challenges facing our rural businesses and entrepreneurs. Often a small amount of capital can have a significant impact on their businesses.<\/p>\n<p>From one small business we learned that the purchase of a $2,500 machine could save hours of work every week. The time saved would allow them to diversify their business and seek an additional stream of income\u00a0and could include hiring a new person. The story was by no means unique. After consulting with regional economic development professionals, we realized that there was certainly a gap that needed filling.<\/p>\n<p>To fill this gap, ANCA recently launched a new crowdfunding platform,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/igniteadk.org\/\">Ignite!<\/a>, to assist entrepreneurs across the Adirondack North Country in raising small amounts of capital for projects that will significantly impact their small businesses. Following the success of Adirondack Gives, a crowdfunding platform for nonprofits, we are aiming to create a community of investors who are committed to seeing small businesses across the region grow, diversify\u00a0and succeed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4789 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adirondack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/16170724598_d080d3bd82_k-500x333.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.adirondack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/16170724598_d080d3bd82_k-500x333.jpeg 500w, https:\/\/www.adirondack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/16170724598_d080d3bd82_k-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.adirondack.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/16170724598_d080d3bd82_k.jpeg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/>Since the launch:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"rteindent1\">\n<li><strong>&#8211; $6,500 has been pledged by over 200 unique individuals to support two local businesses.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/greengoatmaps.com\/\">Green Goat Maps<\/a>\u00a0(picture right) got its launch through its Winter Trails Map Project in January and is already launching into its second and third mapping projects.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.triplegreenjadefarm.com\/\">Triple Green Jade Farm<\/a>\u00a0has already received $3,165 and is now in the process of firing up their wood-fired oven.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8211; The latest Ignite! campaign by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/igniteadk.org\/greenhouse\">Moonstone Farm<\/a>\u00a0to build a new greenhouse is now up on the site.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8211; More new projects are in the works!
